From culture to couture
Last week was for fashion design 2 student doing their assasment .this times the theme
choosen is Malay culture heritage. Batik, architecture, musical instrument, are among
inspiration they used .the collection is for evening dress, many of them choose to make a dress. Material like
fake leather is quite significant for their collection as I can see(suddenly it
remind me of my disastrous FD1). they bought it at Wangsuri (the place where
you can find a lot of kind like fake
leather material, well go there someday) . since they were professional so is
fun to watch them in action.lot of new thing I learn from my senior.
early morning busy as usual model,story board,make up!.ohh btw i realize for fashion student to have basic in make up is a big privilege.it help you to prepare the model and dont have to wait for others to help you.I heard my friend, a fashion student from Geomatika College need to buy make up box and tools it was compulsory.maybe they teach the basic of make up there, for fashion student if it was true I think it was really great! at least it was easy for girls because they did make up in their daily life,hmmm maybe i should watch Ricky Kazaff video more, yup he was more to a hair stylist but it also help! make up,hair style was very important aspect to complete your dress.

mr munir with cekak musang as his inspiration,you know why research are important it also tell you new knowledge like how Mr Munir share the real meaning of baju Melayu what the symbolic meaning behind it 5 and 7 buttons.and baju Melayu is come from chinese and indian garment as the inspiration.well what can i say we are big family here in Malaysia(hope it was not too much of visit Malaysia commercial).Btw seems my lecturer having fun assessing this designer.well he is fun person to be with !
this senpai was really awesome,he is been compliment for very good at documentation.the inspiration was Wau Bulan. he use velvet as his main fabric.it was sexy and elegant!!
what is fashion student biggest fear during assasment, one of it it was when their lecturer start touching the cloth too see the technical part(how you cut the fabric your sewing skill).for our college Madam L is who in charge in this aspect,when she saw something wrong with the dress or perhaps something that catch her eyes better be ready! beauty and quality must share same stage on the runaway i guess!
i remember the green garment,the designer Miss Aini took sirih pinang as her inspiration for the bottom part she have to sew it one by one.and when i was in the lab with her she have to face what most of tailor hate.... when you already sew it only then you just realize it was inside out!! god I hate it so much,I have face the same situation for a few times too.but she did a good job,kuddos to all of them.the middle one was inspired by Malay traditional webbing btw thanks to this lovely designer for helping me with make up part during my FD1,felt really good to have senpai that you can count on .and the third one is inspired by Rebana.the material she used was original oxhide!!

this is my favourite piece for this collection from Mr Syafiq Saedon . during pre assasment when our classmate try to wear it , kind of remind me about greek mythology the material he used is thin fake leather and and chiffon perhaps, it blends
very well(at least from my amateur view) then he also used the leather to make
his short for the assasment kind of really good idea for me when the designer
it self been part of the creation visually.(i adore that pants maybe not the
colour but hell i love it). Madam L once told us during last assasment if you want your cloth to look balance you have to find two fabric with the same weight,he did a good job in that.Mr Haziq in the middle get solute from our lecturer for its unique identity that his shows from his FD1 .he was so cool and talented he used batik as his inspiration.he draw the batik on his cloth by his OWN!.great job dude. Kak Nor was among the old hand in our community,she always show her best in her design.you can never say no to her dress!.
Mr munir and Miss Tyra each of them use Cekak Musang and Malay traditional old house as their inspiration. the last one is FD2 lecturer Madam F.
